Jack goes home on home care. He sells some of his land to pay for part of the home support. He requires a continuing home care support worker, but manages with help from Craig Stevens, his nurse practitioner, who keeps in touch by phone and occasional visits. Jack never manages to use a prosthetic leg, and is unable to leave his house without help. However, although Jack wasn’t able to regain his previous functional status, he remains content with his decision.
Penny takes him to several retirement homes but he doesn’t like any of them. Four months later, his home care support worker finds him deceased at home.
